How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Every patient’s teeth are unique, so the treatment times will vary from one patient to the next. There is a five-step process that is followed for all Invisalign treatments. Here’s an overview of what that looks like:
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DR. JORGE ROJAS
Contact our team to book a free initial consultation with one of our Invisalign professionals. During this appointment, we can help you decide the most suitable course of treatment. We will also take bite impressions that will be sent directly to the team at Invisalign.
YOUR DENTAL ALIGNERS ARE MADE
Utilizing 3D imaging technology, your bite impressions will be transformed into a bespoke series of removable, clear aligners. Depending on the individual needs of your teeth, you might have as few as 12 sets in your series or as many as 48.
YOU RECEIVE YOUR FIRST SET OF INVISALIGN ALIGNERS
On your next appointment at our clinic, you will receive your initial set of dental aligners. We will answer any questions you might have and ensure you know exactly how to get the best from them. It’s likely you will be given a few extra sets to wear prior to your return to the clinic for a follow-up appointment.
WEARING YOUR NEW ALIGNERS
The next phase is up to you. You will typically wear each set of aligners for one to two weeks. As we would have discussed with you at your step 3 appointment, you can remove your aligners only for drinking, eating, brushing, and flossing.
We will usually book you in to see us at 4-6 week intervals so that we can check how you are progressing and to ensure your treatment is progressing as expected.
The total time of treatment can last for anything between 6-18 months. However, it is possible that you will start to see results around 3 months and onwards.
FINALIZE YOUR TREATMENT
When you have worn each set of Invisalign aligners, your treatment will be complete. Once done, to help you retain your newly straight smile, you will be given retainers to wear during the night for a period of six months.
